SPS contributes with expertise in all phases of a field development project, from feasibility studies, cost estimates & schedules to detail engineering and offshore supervision. Flowlines constitute a growing part of the total pipeline volume due to the increasing number of tie-backs to existing infrastructure. Deep water, corrosive well fluids under high pressure and high temperatures give very strict requirements demanding for new project solutions. Documentation of sufficient in-place stability and design life for hot flow-lines lying exposed on the seabed must be based on detailed analyses of free spans, expansion and global buckling.

Design of field layout, routing and evaluation of methods for installation and tie-in are important issues during all phases of the project. Protection requirements in fishing intensive areas must be optimised in order to reduce installation cost and at the same time ensure full integrity of flow-lines and equipment.
